MAS 200

Client/Server computing has become an important industry trend. MAS 200 Client/Server accounting software for Windows NT is a 32-bit version of MAS 90 For Windows that incorporates client/server technology to add new capabilities. When you choose MAS 200 Client Server, you'll receive key benefits that only client/server architectures can provide, such as more efficient distributed processing, high performance, enhanced data integrity and reliability, remote access support, and scalability for large numbers of users.

MAS 200 client/server technology separates the program logic, processing and data management tasks from user-interface processing tasks. All program logic, processing and data management tasks are performed on the application server, and all user interface tasks are performed using a thin client installed on the workstation. Data transmission across the network is minimized; only the commands used to display the current screen and data are sent across the network. Reduced network data transmission per user means that more concurrent network users can be supported using the same network bandwidth and, equally important, MAS 200 Client/Server can be run in low bandwidth environments like modern and WAN connections.

Because all data processing and data management tasks are performed on the server, rather than across the network, you are provided with a 300 to 1000 percent increase in data processing throughput when using a dedicated application server. Data files are stored centrally on the server and are not transmitted across the network, enhancing the data integrity and reliability.

MAS 200 includes the following features:

Designed for WANs and Remote Access Environments - MAS 200 Client/Server is ideal for multi-site business because it is optimized for remote access environments. Today's business processes often demand that employees be able to dial into their company's computer system from off-site locations.

Enhanced Data Integrity - A critical benefit of the MAS 200 Client/Server architecture is a reduction in network traffic. Lower traffic can increase reliability and data integrity systemwide.

Optimized for TCP/IP - In communicating between the server and the workstation, MAS 200 Client/Server uses the TCP/IP networking protocol; the same communications protocol used by Internet and intranet applications.

Performance - The client/server engine can provide peak performance, even when your company has high transaction-processing demands or a large number of accounting users. You should notice the difference when performing system-intensive tasks such as posting, report processing, and period-end processing.

Scalability - MAS 200 Client Server grows with your business, protecting your software purchase. It can support 50 to 100 concurrent users with appropriate server hardware, further expanding the scalability of the MAS 200 product family.

Thin Client Architecture - The current trend in client/server is toward the "thin" client, in which processing is concentrated on the server: This takes advantage of the server's greater power, while freeing up the workstation resources for other tasks. MAS 200 Client/Server takes advantage of the very latest Internet- and intranet compatible thin client architecture.

Windows NT Server 4.0 - The server component runs on Windows NT 4.0/2000.  Windows NT provides simplified installation, configuration, and administration when compared with UNIX or Novell systems, and lower cost than Novell systems.

Workstation Flexibility - The workstation component can run on Windows 95/98/ME or Windows NT 4.0/2000 workstations. This provides ease of integration with Windows productivity applications and presentation-quality reporting tools.
